After a inspired performance in the Swamp on Saturday, although the Vols are 1-2, you have to feel good about where the program is headed. As fans, you should be resigned to the fact that the QB situation is what it is, which sadly, is pure shit. That being said, after watching the gameplan employed by Coach Kiff against Florida, I do believe that they will continue to cater the offense towards Crompton’s strengths (LOL)… i.e. plenty of rollouts, plays designed to work only half the field, pass plays with 2 options only, etc. etc. A vertical passing game just doesn’t look like it’ll happen this year, so we can just go ahead and throw out 50% of the playbook right off the bat. joy!
Anyway, taking what we’ve seen in the first couple games, lets apply that to the rest of the schedule:
Ohio 9/26 – Obvious cakewalk, we’ll continue to iron out what little bit of the offense we’ll be able to use the rest of the year. LOOK OFF YOUR RECEIVERS FOR FUCK’S SAKE! W
Auburn 10/3 – Rematch of one of the ugliest football games I’ve ever watched. Monte showed us last weekend he can scheme against any offense. Malzahn and co. don’t have near the horses that Florida did, and we get them in Neyland. If Jarrett Brown doesn’t have 14 turnovers on Saturday Auburn isn’t undefeated right now. Close W
UGA 10/10 – How bad is this defense? Willie Martinez is Richt’s Randy Sanders. That D might even make Crompton look like a run of the mill Big Sky quarterback. W
@Bama 10/24 – Bama is the team that we want to be. Power run game, ball control offense, stingy defense. We have two of those things. We’ll get there, not this year. L
USCjr 10/31 – Halloween Night Game, its gonna be nasty for the Cocks. W
Memphis 11/7 – W
@Ole Miss 11/14 – This one is interesting. Still don’t know what to think. Nasty D-line, they do have Jevan Snead. They haven’t been tested yet so it’s hard to gauge what this team really is. That, plus Jonathan Crompton plays QB for the Vols. L, for now
Vanderbilt 11/21 – W
@Kentucky 11/28 – W
8-4 would be a great finish to the season. In reality, we could lose to either Auburn, Georgia, or both. 7-5 is probably the more realistic expectation, but I have faith that the staff will continue to coach up the players, and in spite of the succubus we have under center we’ll be able to take care of business at home.
